Hellen Obiri is preparing to defend her Boston Marathon in April. The Kenyan veteran, who is training in the country, picked athletes to keep an eye on at the event.

Hellen Obiri, the two-time defending champion of the Boston Marathon, has identified two athletes who could potentially challenge her at the 2025 event: Kenyan runner Sharon Lokedi, who won the New York City Marathon in 2022, and Ethiopia's Worknesh Degefa, who has a personal best of 2:17:41 and finished second in Boston in 2019. Obiri acknowledges the competitive nature of marathon running, noting that while she is confident, the presence of strong contenders like Lokedi and Degefa means she must continue to train hard and stay focused.
