Friday Night Nets, a basketball initiative aimed at keeping kids and young adults out of trouble, is returning to Newport News this summer.

Friday Night Nets, a free youth basketball program, has returned to Newport News for its 14th season, offering children in grades 3 through 8 the opportunity to participate in basketball activities every Friday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Denbigh Community Center. The program, which started in 2009, aims to provide a safe and fun environment for kids to learn and play basketball, fostering community engagement and youth development. It is supported by the city of Newport News and various sponsors, and registration is open to all interested youth, with no fees required to participate.
