Science Ministry, Asean agree on $30M project to foster digital innovation in region

  • The Ministry of Science and ICT said Thursday it will begin a five-year joint project with Asean worth $30 million this year to foster digital innovation in Southeast Asia.

The Science Ministry of Malaysia, along with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), has launched a $30 million project aimed at fostering digital innovation across the region. This initiative, named the ASEAN Digital Innovation Programme, seeks to enhance digital capabilities, promote technology transfer, and encourage collaboration among ASEAN member states. The project will focus on areas such as digital economy, cybersecurity, and digital inclusion, aiming to bridge the digital divide and support the growth of tech startups and SMEs. It includes the establishment of innovation hubs, capacity building workshops, and the development of a regional digital innovation ecosystem. The program is part of a broader strategy to position ASEAN as a leading digital economy by leveraging collective strengths and resources.
