NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Christopher Newport University's men's basketball team is defying expectations and fueling March Madness dreams, securing a hard-fought 68-59 victory over Hampden-Sydney College Friday night in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The win, celebrated in front of a raucous home crowd, propels the Captains into the second round, where they will face either Methodist University or Greensboro College on Saturday.

The victory marks a continuation of CNU's impressive season, now standing at 24-6.
