Daily News boys volleyball: Three area teams reach City Open semifinals

Three local high school boys' volleyball teams, El Camino Real, Granada Hills, and Palisades, have advanced to the semifinals of the City Open Division playoffs. El Camino Real, the top seed, swept their quarterfinal match against Venice with strong performances from setter Ethan Mikolajewski and outside hitter Ryan Graves. Granada Hills, seeded second, also swept their match against San Fernando, led by the efforts of middle blocker Daniel Kim and libero Alex Lee. Palisades, the third seed, had a tougher battle but managed to defeat Taft in four sets, with standout plays from outside hitter Jake Stein and opposite hitter Leo Chen. The semifinal matches are set to take place on May 14, with El Camino Real facing Palisades and Granada Hills taking on the winner of the other quarterfinal match between Birmingham and Narbonne.
