Beavers kick of 2024-25 season by winning Battle for the Paddle at St. Cloud State
- The Bemidji State women's track and field team began its season with the Battle for the Paddle at St. Cloud State on Saturday.
The Bemidji State men's hockey team started the 2024-25 season with a victory, defeating St. Cloud State 4-2 in the Battle for the Paddle at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. The game was marked by a strong performance from the Beavers, who scored three goals in the first period, including two from Lleyton Roed and one from Jackson Jutting. Despite a comeback attempt by St. Cloud State, Bemidji State's goaltender, Mattias Sholl, made crucial saves, and the team added an empty-net goal by Kyle Looft to secure the win. This victory not only gave the Beavers their first win of the season but also the bragging rights associated with the Battle for the Paddle trophy.
