The University of West Florida's (UWF) Center for Cybersecurity placed second in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (NCCDC) held in Orlando, Florida, marking their highest achievement in the competition to date. UWF competed against nine other universities, defending a network against simulated cyberattacks while maintaining business operations. The team, consisting of undergraduate and graduate students, showcased their skills in cybersecurity, with UWF's Gen. John W. Rosa, president of UWF, and Dr. Eman El-Sheikh, director of the UWF Center for Cybersecurity, expressing pride in the team's performance and dedication. The competition not only highlighted the students' technical abilities but also their teamwork and strategic thinking, reinforcing UWF's reputation in cybersecurity education and training.
