Super League promotor A22 Sports has said it had submitted a proposal to UEFA and FIFA, asking football's governing bodies to formally recognise its right to organise a new European competition.

The European Super League has been reimagined and relaunched as a 96-team competition named the "Unify League," aiming to challenge the dominance of UEFA's Champions League. This new proposal, spearheaded by A22 Sports Management, seeks to create a more open and meritocratic system where teams can qualify based on domestic performance rather than historical prestige. The league would feature promotion and relegation, with no permanent members, and would include a multi-divisional format with 64 men's teams and 32 women's teams. The initiative also promises to distribute revenue more equitably among participating clubs, with a significant portion allocated to non-participating clubs and grassroots football. This move comes after the initial backlash against the original Super League concept in 2021, which was criticized for its closed nature and potential to undermine domestic leagues.
