The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has issued a cease and desist order against the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) and its affiliates for engaging in anti-competitive practices that stifled competition in the Indian table tennis ecosystem. The investigation revealed that TTFI had imposed restrictions on players, coaches, and technical officials, preventing them from participating in non-TTFI events, which was deemed a violation of competition law. These practices included not allowing players to compete in international events without TTFI's approval and barring officials from other tournaments. The CCI's order aims to promote fair play and open competition, ensuring that all stakeholders in table tennis have the freedom to participate in events of their choice, thereby fostering a more competitive and inclusive environment in the sport.
