  • Richmond Public Schools hosted its first varsity swim meet in over 40 years on Saturday at SwimRVA-CSAC in Chesterfield County according to a release from the SwimRVA. The event marked a major milestone for the district, which recently revived its swimming program through a partnership with SwimRVA, the release said.

The Richmond Public Schools hosted their first swim meet in over 40 years at the Arthur Ashe Jr. Athletic Center, marking a significant revival of the swimming program. The event featured teams from Armstrong, John Marshall, Thomas Jefferson, and Huguenot high schools, with Armstrong High School taking first place. The meet was not just about competition but also about reintroducing swimming as a sport in the district, with efforts to expand the program including hiring a new aquatics director and planning for future meets. The revival aims to provide students with opportunities in swimming, a sport that has been largely absent from the district's athletic offerings for decades.
