On May 15, 2025, CNBC reported that major media companies including ESPN, NBC, Amazon, and Netflix are intensifying their efforts to attract sports fans by showcasing their sports programming slates. ESPN is focusing on its comprehensive coverage of major sports leagues and events, including the NFL, NBA, and college sports, while also expanding into new sports like cricket and rugby. NBC is promoting its continued coverage of the Olympics, Premier League soccer, and the addition of new sports documentaries. Amazon is leveraging its streaming platform to offer exclusive sports content, such as Thursday Night Football and a new deal for tennis coverage. Meanwhile, Netflix is entering the sports arena with live events and a series of sports-related documentaries, aiming to capture a younger audience. Each company is using unique strategies to enhance viewer engagement and expand their sports offerings.
