The WGME Pet Food Drive, in collaboration with the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, is an initiative aimed at collecting pet food donations to support pet owners facing financial difficulties. The drive, which runs from November 13th to December 8th, encourages community members to drop off unopened pet food at various locations, including the WGME studios in Portland and the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook. This effort not only helps keep pets with their families during the holiday season but also addresses the increased need seen at the shelter, where they assist around 150 families monthly with pet food. Donations can be made in person or through an Amazon Wish List, ensuring that all types of pet food, from dog and cat to bird and small animal varieties, are available to those in need.
