  UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS: UNO students have won prizes for their technology project at the Rice Business Plan Competition, the world's largest and richest student start-up competition. UNO mechanical engineering


University of New Orleans (UNO) students excelled in various competitions and academic achievements as reported in a recent article. UNO's team, The Slidellions, won first place and $10,000 at the New Orleans Entrepreneur Week's Big Idea Challenge for their innovative app, "Slidellions," designed to enhance community engagement. Additionally, UNO students secured first and second places in the Louisiana Business and Technology Center's Business Concept Competition, with prizes of $1,000 and $500 respectively. In other college news, UNO's Dr. Kim S. Gautreaux was honored with the 2023 Outstanding Faculty Award by the Louisiana Association of Teacher Educators, and UNO's Dr. John C. Renne received a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to study transportation equity. These accomplishments highlight the diverse talents and contributions of UNO's students and faculty.
