SA's Stephon Castle hits game-winner, wins MVP in Rising Stars tournament

  • Castle hit the game-winner in Game 1 of the Friday's Rising Stars tourney and tallied a game-high 12 points in the final.

Stephon Castle, a rookie for the San Antonio Spurs, was named MVP of the NBA Rising Stars Challenge during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis. Castle, who was selected as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, led Team Pau to victory in the event, showcasing his skills by scoring 18 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists. His performance was highlighted by a crucial three-pointer in the final minute of the game, which helped secure the win. Castle's recognition as MVP adds to the Spurs' legacy of young talent, following in the footsteps of former Spur Victor Wembanyama, who was also named MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge in 2022.
