Four quarterbacks -- all under the age of 26 -- are competing for reps following the retirement of Derek Carr.
The New Orleans Saints are currently evaluating their quarterback options for the upcoming NFL season, with a focus on three young prospects: Jake Haener, Spencer Rattler, and Tyler Shough. Jake Haener, a fourth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has shown promise with his accuracy and decision-making, drawing comparisons to Drew Brees. Spencer Rattler, a former five-star recruit, transferred to South Carolina and is known for his strong arm and athleticism, though his consistency has been questioned. Tyler Shough, who has experience at both Oregon and Texas Tech, brings a dual-threat capability to the table, having shown improvement in his passing accuracy. The Saints are looking to develop one of these quarterbacks as a potential long-term solution behind starter Derek Carr, with the competition expected to intensify during training camp and preseason games.
