  • Tiger Woods will not compete in the Dec. 5-8 Hero World Challenge in Albany, Bahamas, the 15-times major winner said on Monday, extending his long absence from competition.

Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the Hero World Challenge, a tournament he hosts in the Bahamas, due to ongoing recovery from ankle surgery. The event, scheduled for November 30 to December 3, 2023, will now feature 19 players instead of the usual 20. Woods, who has been dealing with injuries, underwent a subtalar fusion procedure in April to address arthritis stemming from a previous talus bone fracture. Despite his absence from the competition, Woods expressed his disappointment and his intention to return to competitive golf as soon as possible.
