  • After successful debut as In-Season Tournament, NBA's new midseason competition returns with Emirates sponsorship and refined format for 2024-25 season.

The Emirates NBA Cup, previously known as the NBA In-Season Tournament, is a new midseason competition introduced by the NBA for the 2023-24 season. This tournament features all 30 NBA teams divided into six groups of five, with each team playing four group stage games. These games count towards the regular season standings except for the Championship game. The group stage is followed by a knockout round where the winners from each group, along with two wild card teams (the best second-place teams from each conference), advance. The knockout rounds include single-elimination games leading to the semifinals and the final, which is set to take place in Las Vegas. The tournament aims to add excitement to the regular season, offering a new trophy and individual honors like the MVP and an All-Tournament Team. The event also includes unique court designs and special uniforms to distinguish it from regular season games.
