The ICC Champions Trophy is an international cricket tournament organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), featuring the top eight teams in the world. Originally known as the ICC KnockOut Trophy when it began in 1998, it was rebranded as the Champions Trophy in 2002. The tournament has undergone several format changes, moving from a knockout to a round-robin format in 2006, and then to a hybrid format in 2009. It was held every two years until 2009, after which it was decided to be held every four years, alternating with the T20 World Cup. The last tournament was in 2017, won by Pakistan, and the next is scheduled for 2025 in Pakistan. The event not only showcases high-level cricket but also serves as a significant revenue generator for the ICC, with teams competing for a prestigious title and substantial prize money.
