Canada's Sherret takes over World Cup ski cross standings lead with bronze medal

  • India Sherret, of Cranbrook, B.C., won the bronze medal in the World Cup ski cross competition on Friday.

Canada's Tiana Gairns and Marielle Thompson secured a bronze medal in the women's ski cross event at the World Cup in Idre Fjäll, Sweden, which allowed their teammate Hannah Schmidt to take over the lead in the overall standings. Schmidt, who finished fourth, now leads with 476 points, just ahead of Switzerland's Saskja Lack who has 470 points. The race was won by France's Marielle Berger Sabbatel, with Sweden's Sandra Naeslund coming in second. This result marks a significant achievement for the Canadian team, showcasing their strong performance in the season.
