Sky Sports willing to 'pay double' for PDC World Darts Championship TV rights amid rising competition

The PDC World Darts Championship has secured a new five-year broadcast deal with Sky Sports, extending their partnership until the end of the 2027/28 season. This agreement ensures that the championship, which has been broadcast by Sky since 2011, will continue to be available on the platform, with coverage including live matches, highlights, and additional content. The deal was announced amidst speculation that streaming giants like Netflix and Amazon might enter the bidding, but Sky Sports has retained the rights, emphasizing their commitment to darts as a key sport in their portfolio. The championship, known for its significant viewership and cultural impact, especially during the festive season, will see its 31st edition in November 2024 at Alexandra Palace.
