GSL final goes ahead despite Bangladesh asking Rangpur to release three players

The Global T20 Canada League (GSL) final proceeded as planned despite Bangladesh's request for Rangpur Riders to release three of their players, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, and Mushfiqur Rahim, for national team duties. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had asked for the players to be available for a T20I series against Zimbabwe starting on May 3, 2024. However, the GSL organizers decided to go ahead with the final, which was set to take place on May 6, 2024, in Brampton, Canada. This decision was made despite the potential absence of these key players, highlighting the scheduling conflicts between international cricket and franchise leagues.
