National Conference League chief steps down as proposed new chair named
- The National Conference League (NCL) is set to have a new Chairperson for the 2025 season. The current Chair, Trevor Hunt, will step down at the league's Annual General Meeting (AGM) in January, with Thatto Heath Crusaders Chair Mike Denning being recommended by the NCL Management Committee to then take charge.
The National Conference League (NCL) is undergoing a leadership transition as its current chief, Trevor Hunt, has decided to step down after serving for 12 years. Hunt, who has been instrumental in the league's operations, will be succeeded by interim chair Chris Hamilton, who has been involved with the NCL for 15 years and has a deep understanding of the league's needs. The transition comes at a time when the NCL is looking to address various challenges including the impact of the cost of living crisis on clubs, the need for more volunteers, and the ongoing recovery from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The new chair will also focus on enhancing the league's structure, ensuring its sustainability, and promoting rugby league at the community level.
