This potential change aims to increase viewer engagement by introducing a head-to-head competition among the top players. The idea was discussed during a recent Player Advisory Council meeting, where the format would see players matched up in a playoff-style event, potentially starting with 16 players. This format could replace or complement the current FedEx Cup points system, where the winner of the Tour Championship is also crowned the FedEx Cup champion. The proposal is still in the early stages, with no final decisions made, but it reflects the PGA Tour's ongoing efforts to innovate and enhance the appeal of its season-ending event.
