Montreal Canadiens' goaltender Cayden Primeau didn't get what he wanted for Christmas, instead, he was put on waivers and assigned to the Laval Rocket and Friday he played his first AHL game since April 2023.

Cayden Primeau, the goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens, made a strong impression in his first game with the Laval Rocket, the team's AHL affiliate, on October 13, 2023. Despite the Rocket's 4-3 overtime loss to the Belleville Senators, Primeau's performance was notable. He faced 32 shots, saving 29 of them, which included several high-quality scoring chances. His play was described as solid, with good rebound control and positioning, earning praise from both teammates and coaches. This game was significant as it was his first action since being sent down to the AHL to gain more playing time and experience, following a season where he had limited opportunities with the Canadiens.
