  • Fast bowler Anrich Nortje was on Tuesday ruled out of the Champions Trophy because of a back injury. Nortje, at his peak the fastest bowler in international cricket, underwent a scan on Monday, according to a statement by CSA,

South Africa's fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the upcoming Champions Trophy due to a stress fracture in his back, as confirmed by Cricket South Africa (CSA). This injury setback means Nortje will miss the tournament scheduled for February-March 2025 in Pakistan. Nortje, who has been struggling with injuries, also missed the 2023 ODI World Cup and has only played in two Tests since July 2022. His absence is a significant blow to the Proteas, who are looking to build a strong squad for the event. CSA has not yet announced a replacement for Nortje, but they are expected to make decisions regarding the team composition in the coming months.
