U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a lawsuit by the DOJ against Maine for allowing trans athletes in girls' sports, defying President Donald Trump's executive order.

Bondi, a Florida-based company, has filed a lawsuit against the state of Maine over a new law that bans the sale of flavored tobacco products, including menthol cigarettes. The company argues that the law, which went into effect on July 1, 2023, violates the U.S. Constitution's Commerce Clause by discriminating against out-of-state businesses and interfering with interstate commerce. Bondi claims that the ban has caused significant financial harm to its business and is seeking an injunction to block the law's enforcement, as well as damages for the losses incurred. The lawsuit is part of a broader legal battle between tobacco companies and states that have implemented similar restrictions on flavored tobacco products.
