Reigning champ Malinin of US leads Japan's Kagiyama at figure skating world championships

At the Figure Skating World Championships held on March 28, 2025, in Boston, Ilia Malinin of the United States, the reigning champion, took the lead in the men's short program with a score of 106.90 points. He showcased a quadruple Lutz-triple toe loop combination, a quadruple loop, and a triple Axel, despite a slight error on the latter. Japan's Yuma Kagiyama followed closely with 106.26 points, performing a quadruple Salchow-triple toe loop, a quadruple toe loop, and a triple Axel. Shoma Uno, also from Japan, secured third place with 100.20 points, featuring a quadruple flip-triple toe loop, a quadruple toe loop, and a triple Axel.
