New World of Outlaws rule a response to Kyle Larson's success
- One of the World of Outlaws rule updates issued this week in advance of the 2025 season may as well be called the Paul Silva - Kyle Larson Rule. Chapter 3, Section 1, Q. Q. Steel and stainless-steel headers will be allowed.
The World of Outlaws has introduced a new rule in response to Kyle Larson's overwhelming success in sprint car racing, aiming to level the playing field. This rule, known as the "Kyle Larson Rule," limits the number of races a driver can compete in while still being eligible for the series championship. Specifically, drivers can only participate in up to 75% of the races if they are also racing in other series, like NASCAR, where Larson has been notably successful. This change was prompted by Larson's dominance, where he won 46 out of 96 races in 2023, showcasing his exceptional skill and the advantage of his extensive racing experience. The rule seeks to ensure that full-time World of Outlaws drivers have a fairer chance at the championship, addressing the competitive imbalance created by part-time drivers with significant racing commitments elsewhere.
