Beauden Barrett wants Japan back in expanded Super Rugby

Beauden Barrett, a prominent All Blacks flyhalf, has expressed his desire for Japan to rejoin an expanded Super Rugby competition starting in 2025. This interest comes as New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and Rugby Australia (RA) are in discussions to potentially include Japan and a Fijian team in the tournament. Barrett, who has played in Japan during the off-season, believes that the inclusion of Japanese teams would enhance the competition's quality and appeal, especially after the departure of South African teams to the European competition, the PRO14. He highlighted the benefits of cultural exchange and the competitive edge that Japanese rugby could bring to Super Rugby.
