  • The IBA is not backing down from a potential lawsuit from Imane Khelif following the controversy surrounding her sex at the Paris Olympics.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) has responded to a lawsuit threat from Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who was controversially disqualified from the Paris Olympics qualifiers. Khelif was disqualified for not meeting the IBA's eligibility criteria, specifically for not adhering to the organization's rules on equipment and uniform. The IBA, through its Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts, expressed disappointment over the situation but emphasized their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport by ensuring all athletes comply with the same standards. The IBA also highlighted that Khelif had the opportunity to appeal the decision but chose not to, instead opting for legal action. The association remains open to dialogue to resolve the issue amicably, while also defending their policies and the fairness of their application.
