  • IOC Session, which will also elect a new president to succeed Thomas Bach, is expected to ratify the executive board's decision for inclusion of boxing in the 2028 LA Games roster.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has officially included boxing in the program for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, as confirmed by the IOC Executive Board. This decision comes after the sport was temporarily removed from the Olympic roster due to governance issues with the International Boxing Association (IBA). The IOC had previously managed the boxing events at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics independently. The inclusion for 2028 was part of a broader announcement that also saw the addition of five new sports: baseball/softball, cricket (T20), flag football, lacrosse (sixes), and squash. The decision to reinstate boxing was made despite ongoing concerns about the IBA's management, with the IOC ensuring that the sport's Olympic future would be secured under its direct supervision.
