  • Kraigg Brathwaite has stepped down as Test captain of the West Indies after three years in the role. The 32-year-old will hand over the captaincy to an as yet unnamed replacement for Australia's three-match Test tour of the Caribbean in June and July.

Kraigg Brathwaite has stepped down as the captain of the West Indies Test team, a role he held for three years. His decision comes after a tenure marked by a challenging period for West Indies cricket, where they won only four out of 21 Tests under his leadership. Despite the team's struggles, Brathwaite's personal performance was notable, scoring 1,823 runs at an average of 42.40, including five centuries. His captaincy saw the team facing difficulties, particularly in away series, with a notable low point being a 2-0 series loss in Australia. Brathwaite expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead and mentioned his intent to continue contributing to West Indies cricket as a player. The Cricket West Indies (CWI) has acknowledged his service and will soon announce his successor.
