Busan International Film Festival Launches Competition Section; Overhauls Programming Team

The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has launched its 25th edition with a focus on celebrating cinema and fostering international collaboration, despite the challenges posed by the ongoing global health crisis. The festival, which runs from October 21 to 30, 2022, features a diverse lineup of over 200 films from 69 countries, including 79 world premieres and 23 international premieres. BIFF is also hosting various online events and has implemented strict safety measures to ensure the well-being of attendees. The festival's opening film is the Korean drama "Escape from Mogadishu," directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, and the closing film is the French drama "The Restless," directed by Joachim Lafosse. BIFF aims to provide a platform for filmmakers to showcase their work and engage with audiences, while also promoting cultural exchange and understanding.
