Ohio State HC Ryan Day Has Ruled One QB Out of Starting Competition

  • Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes went on a magical run to win the national championship last season. However, the 2024 season has come and gone, and so have many of the players who helped lead that championship run.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has officially ruled out quarterback Tristan Gebbia from the starting competition for the upcoming season. Gebbia, a transfer from Oregon State, will instead serve as a mentor to the younger quarterbacks on the roster. The competition for the starting position is now down to Kyle McCord and Devin Brown, with Day indicating that a decision on the starter might be made during fall camp. Day praised Gebbia's experience and leadership, noting his value to the team despite not being in the running for the starting role.
