The Los Angeles Lakers have been sold to Mark Walters for a record-setting deal.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been sold to a group led by Todd Boehly for a record-breaking $10 billion, making it the highest valuation ever for a sports franchise. The sale, which was announced on Tuesday, surpasses the previous record set by the sale of the Brooklyn Nets in 2019 for $3.3 billion. The Lakers, one of the most successful and popular teams in the NBA, have won 17 championships and boast a roster of legendary players including Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Kobe Bryant. The new ownership group, which includes investors such as Mark Walter and Alan Smolinisky, plans to invest in the team's facilities and player development to continue the Lakers' tradition of excellence.
