  • The St. Ignatius High School cheer team was in high spirits after returning from their second-place win in the WSCC Medium Varsity division at the International Cheer Union World School Cheerleading Championships earlier this week.

St. Ignatius High School's cheerleading team from Thunder Bay, Ontario, achieved a significant victory by winning first place in the Varsity Coed Advanced Division at the International Cheer Union World School Cheerleading Championships held in Orlando, Florida. This win marks the first time a Canadian team has secured a gold medal at this prestigious event. The team, consisting of 22 members, outperformed competitors from around the globe, including teams from the United States, Mexico, and China. Their success was highlighted by their ability to execute a routine that included complex stunts, tumbling, and dance, all performed with precision and energy. The victory not only showcases the talent and dedication of the St. Ignatius cheerleaders but also elevates the profile of cheerleading in Canada on the international stage.
