  • The four-time defending national champions didn't lock down the top spot in Softball America's preseason poll on Monday.

The University of Oklahoma's softball team has been ranked No. 4 in Softball America's preseason poll for the upcoming season. This ranking reflects high expectations for the Sooners, who are coming off a season where they finished with a 53-1 record and won the Women's College World Series. The team, led by head coach Patty Gasso, features a roster with significant returning talent, including key players like Tiare Jennings, Jayda Coleman, and pitcher Jordy Bahl, who was named the Most Outstanding Player at the WCWS. The Sooners are set to begin their season at the Mark Campbell Invitational in Irvine, California, from February 8-10, 2024, where they will face tough competition from teams like UCLA, Washington, and San Jose State.
