Belton High School BBQ teams qualify for state competition

The Belton High School BBQ teams, known as the "Smokin' Tigers," have qualified for the state competition in the Texas High School BBQ Association (THSBA) event. The teams, consisting of both junior varsity and varsity members, earned their spot by placing in the top 10 at the regional competition held at the Bell County Expo Center. This achievement marks the first time in the school's history that both teams have advanced to the state level. The BBQ cook-off, which is part of a broader initiative to promote agriculture and culinary skills among students, will see the teams competing in categories like chicken, pork spare ribs, and brisket. The state competition is scheduled for June 8 at the Dripping Springs Ranch Park, where the students will showcase their skills against other top high school BBQ teams from across Texas.
