The 39th Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition, held in Rockford, showcased the talents of 15 teams from across the Midwest, including participants from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The event, which took place over a weekend, saw teams working around the clock to transform 8-foot-tall blocks of snow into intricate sculptures. The competition was not only a test of artistic skill but also of endurance, with teams facing cold temperatures and the physical challenge of sculpting in such conditions. The winners of the competition were Team Snowveralls from Indiana, who crafted an impressive sculpture titled "The Snowveralls," featuring a detailed scene with a snowman and a dog. Other notable entries included "The Snow Queen" by Team Snow Doodlers from Illinois, and "The Snowman's Last Stand" by Team Frosty's Revenge from Michigan. The event also highlighted the community spirit, with spectators enjoying the creativity and the festive atmosphere, despite the cold weather.
