  • The Atlanta Falcons hired Jeff Ulbrich as their defensive coordinator -- while the New York Jets filled their own vacancy with one of Atlanta's top targets.

Steve Wilks has been appointed as the new defensive coordinator for the New York Jets, replacing Jeff Ulbrich who has moved to the Atlanta Falcons as their defensive coordinator. This transition comes after the Jets' defense showed significant improvement under Ulbrich, finishing the season ranked fourth in the NFL in total defense. Wilks, previously the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, brings a wealth of experience, having also served as the interim head coach for the Carolina Panthers in 2022. His hiring is part of the Jets' strategy to maintain their defensive prowess following a season where they allowed the fourth-fewest points in the league.
