  • A federal jury has found in favor of the U.S. Soccer Federation and MLS in the antitrust lawsuit filed against the two entities by the North American Soccer League.

In a significant legal decision, a jury sided with Major League Soccer (MLS) and the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) in a lawsuit brought by the North American Soccer League (NASL). The NASL had accused MLS and USSF of conspiring to monopolize professional soccer in the U.S., alleging that USSF's denial of NASL's Division 1 sanctioning was part of this scheme. However, the jury found that there was no conspiracy or monopolization, and that USSF's decision was based on legitimate concerns about the NASL's financial stability and operational capabilities. This ruling effectively ends NASL's legal challenge against MLS and USSF, allowing MLS to continue its operations without the threat of antitrust litigation from NASL.
