Super League promoters have revealed they have asked FIFA and UEFA for "official recognition" of their proposed competition.

The European Super League, now rebranded as the "European Super League Company", has submitted a request to FIFA and UEFA for official recognition. This move comes after the original proposal for a breakaway league in 2021 faced significant backlash and was largely abandoned by most clubs involved. The new proposal aims to establish a multi-divisional format with 60 to 80 teams, ensuring each team plays at least 14 matches per season. The league seeks to operate within the existing football governance framework, emphasizing that it does not intend to compete with or undermine national leagues but rather to complement them. This initiative is backed by A22 Sports Management, which has been promoting the idea of a reformed European football competition structure.
