A FuboTV subscriber has filed an antitrust lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company following the shutdown of Venu Sports, a planned sports streaming service that was to be a collaboration between Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery. The lawsuit claims that Disney's actions, including the termination of Venu Sports, are part of a broader strategy to monopolize the sports streaming market. This legal action comes in the wake of Disney's decision to pull out of the Venu project, which was seen as a direct competitor to existing services like FuboTV. The plaintiff argues that Disney's maneuvers, including exclusive content deals and high licensing fees, unfairly disadvantage smaller competitors like FuboTV, thereby reducing consumer choice and potentially increasing costs for viewers. The case highlights ongoing tensions in the streaming industry regarding content control and market competition.
