Cha Min-kyu of South Korea won a silver medal in the men's 1,000-meter speed skating event at the Winter Asian Games held in China. He completed the race with a time of 1 minute, 21.52 seconds, narrowly missing the gold which went to China's Ning Zhongyan, who set a new Asian record with a time of 1:20.29. This event took place at the Heping Ice Sports Center in Jilin Province, where Cha expressed his disappointment at not securing the gold but was still pleased with his performance, especially after overcoming a recent injury.
