The U.S. Open's revamped mixed doubles format is a "profound injustice" that disrespects the players, reigning champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori have said.

The 2023 US Open mixed doubles champions, Anna Danilina and Harri Heliovaara, have criticized the planned changes to the mixed doubles format for the 2025 US Open. The USTA announced that the event would be reduced to a 16-team draw and would be played over just three days, a decision aimed at reducing scheduling conflicts and enhancing the fan experience. However, Danilina and Heliovaara argue that these changes could undermine the event's prestige and competitiveness. They expressed concerns that the smaller draw and shorter duration would make the tournament less appealing to top players, potentially diminishing the quality of the competition. They also highlighted the lack of consultation with players before making such significant alterations, suggesting that the changes might not serve the best interests of the sport or its participants.
