The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) will request for major funding for the country's men's curling team, following their historic triumph in the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China last Friday.

The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) is set to request funding from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) to support winter sports following the success of the Philippine curling team at the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics. The team, which included players like Edwina and Mark Ashley, won a silver medal in the mixed team event, marking a historic achievement for the Philippines in winter sports. POC President Abraham Tolentino highlighted the need for financial support to develop winter sports further, especially since the Philippines has shown potential in events like curling, figure skating, and ice hockey. This initiative aims to capitalize on the momentum gained from the Youth Olympics to prepare athletes for future international competitions, including the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.
