HBCUs get $100,000 each from U.S. Tennis Association

The U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) has announced a significant initiative to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by providing each of the 37 HBCUs with a $100,000 grant. This financial support aims to enhance tennis programs at these institutions, focusing on areas like facility improvements, equipment purchases, and program development. The initiative is part of a broader effort to promote diversity and inclusion in tennis, addressing the underrepresentation of Black players in the sport. The grants are intended to help HBCUs build or refurbish tennis courts, fund scholarships, and support coaching staff, thereby fostering a new generation of tennis players and enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds. This move by the USTA also reflects a commitment to social responsibility and community engagement within the sport.
