Cannes Festival: the films in competition

The Cannes Film Festival, set to take place from May 16-27, has announced its lineup for the 2023 competition, featuring a diverse selection of films from around the world. Notable entries include "Asteroid City" by Wes Anderson, "May December" by Todd Haynes, and "The Zone of Interest" by Jonathan Glazer. The festival will also showcase works by emerging filmmakers such as Ramata-Toulaye Sy with "Banel & Adama" and Senegalese director Mounia Meddour with "Houria". In addition to the competition films, the festival will honor Michael Douglas with an honorary Palme d'Or, and feature out-of-competition screenings like the highly anticipated "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" by James Mangold. The lineup reflects a strong emphasis on international cinema and a mix of established and new voices in the film industry.
