Despite passing a gender verification test, the controversy led to significant media attention and pressure. Chen, feeling the strain, decided to pull out of the competition, stating she did not want to continue under such circumstances. This decision came after discussions with her coach and the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee, who supported her choice to prioritize her mental health and well-being.
