  • Missouri has now violated the SEC's access to competition area policy twice in the last two years following big victories.

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has imposed a $100,000 fine on the University of Missouri for fans storming the court after the men's basketball team's victory over Kansas in the Border War game. This incident occurred on December 9, 2023, at Mizzou Arena, marking the first time since 2012 that Mizzou fans had stormed the court. The SEC has a policy against such field or court storming, with fines escalating for repeat offenses within a three-year period. This fine is the first for Missouri under this policy, which was established in 2004. The money from the fine will go to the SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund.
